First glance into Rabat

Tuesday, May 10th, 2016: A little over 48 hours since landing in Morocco, it feels as if we took off from Toronto long ago, and our time in a Kenneth Taylor Hall tutorial room something from a distant past.

Upon our group’s arrival in Morocco we were greeted with rain, to which most Moroccans remark that we have brought Canadian weather with us! Hopefully the rain does not make a habit of reappearing throughout our stay, and the weather stays as beautiful as Moroccans have promised.

As much as I have researched, binged on Youtube videos, and planned for Morocco, nothing could have prepared me for how beautiful Rabat is – even with the sporadic rain!

Soon after unpacking at our host family’s apartment (hey Bridget!), our host mother asked  if we’d like to see the terrace’s view. We eagerly accepted, and were soon amazed by the view. The palm-lined streets, ocean views and white apartment buildings reflecting the sun – I still cannot believe how it is simply used as a place to dry laundry.

I can’t wait to see what Morocco has in store for me – and hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy this view (bezef – “a lot” in Darija) while I  have access to it!
